The Best Crafts for Springtime

With the cold winter climate finally over, it’s time to look forward to all the joy that spring offers. This is also the stretch of the school year that features spring break and marks the final part before summer vacation. Spending quality craft time with the kids can be a wonderful bonding experience. We’ve chosen some unique craft ideas to make this time of year memorable and enjoyable.

Coffee Flower Pot

If you’re a busy parent on the go, there’s a good chance you won’t leave the house without your morning cup of coffee. This activity is fun to share one of your daily essentials with your kids. Take an empty coffee pot some filters, and color them both for a DIY faux-flower creation that can lighten up the setting of the household.

Paper Plate Animals

Are you planning on a springtime picnic this year? Have some paper plates left over? Well, now you can put them to use by helping your children turn them into animals. This is a chance for both of you to be creative together. All you need is a few paper plates, some construction paper, and a few markers, and you can transform paper plates into pigs, sheep, and other animals that will give your home that Farmville feeling.

Pipe Cleaner People

Pipe cleaners have long been a standard of many kid’s crafts. And while they serve many uses, we thought making people out of them could be delightful for parents and kids alike. A few twists and turns, and you have a family of pipe cleaner parents and kids and even a few pets of your own; you’re feeling adventurous enough.

Origami Butterflies

Relax—these are a lot easier than traditional Origami. A brown paper bag, two plates, and some disposable tissue paper are all you need to make these butterflies fly away into the sky. (Almost.) Once decorated, you can encourage your child’s creativity by asking them to do a puppet show. (Bown bags are great for these activities.)

Egg Carton Garden

Encouraging your kids to develop a green thumb is never too early. Spring is the perfect time to plant seeds; a discarded milk carton can make a great bed for them. Your kids can decorate it precisely, and watching their seedlings grow can be very enjoyable.
