As parents, we often find ourselves juggling multiple responsibilities, from work to family time to extracurricular activities. The addition of homework can sometimes feel like a daunting task, especially when trying to balance it with other commitments. After-school care can offer a valuable solution, providing a supportive environment where children can receive homework assistance while also engaging in enriching activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four Ways to Balance Homework & Family Time<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Assign a Quiet Space for Homework<\/strong> – Distractions might be your greatest obstacle for completing homework efficiently. We recommend separating children from their toys and electronics temporarily in order to focus better. Also, make sure they have easy access to supplies (pencils, crayons, glue, etc.), which prevents them from wandering around searching for stuff.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Create a Consistent Routine<\/strong> – You don\u2019t want to let them do homework whenever they desire, otherwise it simply won\u2019t happen at all<\/em><\/strong>. It\u2019s smart to coordinate a designated homework time with your dinner schedule, outdoor exercise, and other elements of family time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Take Breaks & Go Outside<\/strong> – We know from plenty of experience that you cannot tether young children to their desks all day. That part about \u201coutdoor exercise\u201d isn\u2019t just empty verbiage. Most of the time, you might want to let your child unwind and have fun right after school (given how they might have been seated much of the day).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Offer Your Support Wherever Possible<\/strong> – Obviously, parents shouldn\u2019t do their child\u2019s homework for them, but also shouldn\u2019t leave them stranded with something difficult. We\u2019ll give you a hint: this might occur a lot with some of that daunting math homework<\/em><\/strong>. We\u2019ve all been there as children, and sometimes parental support is the only thing that makes it happen at all (especially for tricky subjects).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
